Alcohol rehab – more than just a 12 step program

We have all seen them. They sit at the end of the local bar, night after night. Maybe they have two or so drinks and head home; maybe they have a 12 pack and then leave to head to the next bar. The problem lies in that we honestly do not know who does and who does not have a problem. Not everyone is going to just come out and say that they are an alcoholic. While some might, most will be in denial not wanting to deal with the problem, they’d rather separate themselves from anyone who tells them otherwise. Is it truly as simple as taking the bottle out of their hand or cutting them off from having that next drink? Never! They have to want to help themselves to take away the pain the addiction may be causing them and their loved ones. Alcohol treatment may be just the right thing for them.

Everyone has heard of Alcoholics Anonymous; a place where those facing a common problem can meet and discuss their progress, their regress, and everything in between. But is this truly enough to ensure sobriety? There is no accountability, there is no one forcing you to face your situation. Does this program work? The answer is yes, for some. But for most there is a stronger need for outside help. For the ones that recognize that they need more, there is a place to turn, there is alcohol rehab. Just like many other addiction treatment programs, this treatment option may be just what someone needs to beat the addiction. The thing about any treatment program is that it needs to be tailored to help you in ways that you cannot help yourself. Your loved ones who may have pushed you to the point to finally face the music will still be there to help you as you make your progress, and in addition to them you will be enlisting the help of well trained physicians and counselors, plus the added assistance of those who have faced this problem head on in the past. No one should face an alcohol treatment program alone, and you won’t.

No more will you have to sit in a small room just telling people your problems while the temptation to slip out to the bar down the street pounds you as you walk by it. Placing yourself in an alcohol treatment facility will take many environmental factors out of the equation, allowing you to focus on what is best for you – beating the addiction. Why waste another day wondering if you truly have a problem, or if you do – why wait to find help through the difficult time? Everyone needs help at some point; we just don’t always know when it is our time.
